Meeting Location and Directions
For the Block on the Month, follow the link on left. President's MessageEllen BeeberDespite the rolling fog that came through Ridgefield during our January meeting, our Pot-Luck dinner was a hit!! We even had two, count them two, men at the meeting too!! My Mom always told me that to get to a man’s heart is through his stomach….and I guess it does work!! I’d like to thank you all for making our January Pot-Luck Dinner a very enjoyable and successful evening. Next time we do a pot luck dinner, a copy of the recipe of whatever you bring is required!! I wanted a recipe for each dish that was brought in!! Everything was D-E-L-I-S-H!! I’d also like to thank all of those who helped make our table decorations. Your donations of notions, gloves and fat quarters added a great look to our tables. And between our usual guild meeting raffle and the raffle of the six baskets, the raffle table took in $109!! The workshop on Saturday, January 11th was three good hours of fun and creativity. Our own Annie Dervin-Jundt taught us how to make fabric cards for any occasion. I’d like to ask those of you who participated in this class to bring in your cards for Show in Tell at the March meeting. Thank you Annie for a very enjoyable afternoon!! Now onto business….It gives me great pleasure to announce our new 2006 Raffle Quilt ticket committee. They are Peg Wildman and Betty Licarie. Thank you Ladies for stepping in and making this happen!! Blocks for our 2006 Raffle quilt were passed out by Jennifer O’Brien. All the packets that she had at the January meeting were passed out but she will bring more for the March meeting. Each packet has four blocks to make up. If you have never done a red work quilt embroidered quilt before, here’s your chance to learn how!! I encourage everyone to do at least one packet…..Thank you! And speaking of our yearly Raffle Quilt, there has been two nominations on who we will give a part of the proceeds to. The first being the Nutmeg Quilters and the second is the P.E.O. Sisterhood, a philanthropic and educational organization interested in bringing to women increased opportunities for higher education. If you would like more information about this candidate, please feel free to drop M.J. Fitzgibbon an e-mail with any questions you may have. We will be closing nominations and voting on who the proceeds with go to at our March meeting. Other news is that we will need to be thinking about nominations for the upcoming board. There are several people (including myself) whose two year term is up and we need to think about elections. If you’d like to step up and be nominated for a position, please feel free to ask anyone on the Board. Okay….I think I’ve said enough for one President’s Message. Check out the rest of the newsletter for up and coming things that the guild is sponsoring. Until then….Happy Quilting. Ellen Beeber
Community Service: More quilts in the works: The Hands-On meeting in February will be a busy time again with people working on Community Service Quilts. Guild members can bring their rotary cutters and mats or a sewing machine -- depending whether they want to make kits or work on making a quilt for our Community Service projects. We have a few kits made up that people can work on and we also have lots of fabrics that can be cuts up into colorful kits. Come and work together for a fun evening. Trish and Angela. Storage needed: Trish Palmer has managed Community Service's large stash of fabric and a growing supply of quilts for many months, but her home can no longer be the committee's storage site. She is looking for guild members to volunteer to take one or more of five easy-to-carry plastic containers home, starting in January. If you can help, please call Trish prior to the January 11th Potluck Supper, so she knows how many containers to bring to transfer to your care.
